People come here from all over the world and they are free to start over and carve out a new destiny for themselves. If God planted more Gardens on more Earths scattered across the universe, and if the essence of the Garden story was that it was a test of free will (whether it would be abused in disobedience or result in obedience) and if it was a fair test, then it stands to reason there's a large number of planets where no "Fall" took place. On each one of those worlds would dwell a pair of creatures who lived forever in perfect happiness, tending their fruit trees and ignorant of even the knowledge of sexuality. Never would they go out from their Garden to learn agriculture, and mining, and smelting, and steam power, and electricity, and finally the transmission of electromagnetic energy carrying information. And so only Fallen races would talk to each other over interstellar distances, and perhaps venture out to meet each other. Collectivism is the idea that society can be more efficient if people are allowed to specialize. This is enabled by the concept of the commons which includes public roads, police, a fire department, a common power grid and communications network as well as a recognized medium of exchange called money. The commons is maintained by a user fee structure called a tax which most people are willing to pay because they understand that their residual income would be much lower without the common infrastructure.
Collectivism is universally derided by people who practice individualism. They of course, in order to avoid being seen as hypocrites, fly Buck Rogers jet packs to work so they don't drive on our common roads, they generate their own power from solar panels and when thieves try to take those panels they don't even call 911. When they have business dealings with other rugged individuals in their gulch they simply barter, perhaps trading a pair of boots they made for a pork belly.
